october update

Hi everyone! I'm on my half term break right now...two weeks of no kids and no teaching! How lucky am I?! On Monday and Tuesday, I had teacher workdays and had some training to do for my new job.

Since Wednesday I've been completely lazy and enjoying just resting at home. It's been very nice but it's also the first time in AGES that I've had nothing to do. Since I moved here I always have had an assignment or paper to work on when I had days off. Now I literally have nothing to do and it's a bit weird!

Next week I am going to go to Hampton Court Palace, the opera on Thursday, and the eye doctor for my yearly checkup (very exciting, I know!). Tonight, my friend Mel and I are going to the Black Cat Cabaret in Soho. That's what I love about London - you can always find something new to do! I've never been to the Cabaret or the opera while living here!

Oh and SO pleased to announce that I 'officially' passed and completed my Master's programme! It's a huge relief to be finished and I am really proud of myself. It wasn't an easy thing to do and luckily I will never have to do it again! :)

Here are some pictures from the last few weeks!
Me and my co-teacher Kirsten celebrating her 30th birthday!

My two co-workers, Ciara and Courtney.

Adam and I enjoying afternoon tea at the Mandeville Hotel...so yummy!

Being silly on the train on the way to a friend's birthday party!

Me and Rashmi at a friend's birthday in Islington

That's all for now! Sending lots of love from London!

fall days

Currently I'm sitting in my flat looking out the window and admiring how beautiful it is outside! It is perfect Fall weather here...sunny and 60 degrees. I can't believe how lucky we've been with the weather over the last few months here in London. It really has made such a huge difference in people's moods!

Not much new going on here. I am still really enjoying my job, my students, and my new co-workers. It feels great to be working at a school that encourages the staff to think outside the box and implement strategies that work. I was always so frustrated in NC when we were constantly being told what we could and couldn't do in our classrooms; regardless of the students we had in our classes and their needs. But that experience has made me appreciate this one so much more!

Besides the new job, I have been doing the Dukan Diet for the last 5 weeks. I've lost 9 pounds! At first it was difficult but now I actually really like eating the foods it suggests. I feel healthy. I use to feel bloated ALL the time and that's not the case now. I basically eat protein, veggies, and non-fat dairy (no cheese, just yogurt and milk). It's a limited diet...no alcohol, no bread, no pasta but like I said I feel REALLY good. I have my occasional cheats just so I don't get completely burnt out.

I have two more weeks of school before my half term break. Then I have off two weeks! I don't have any plans to travel or do anything. I want to save money and just get some rest. I am very excited about coming home for Christmas!

That's all here in London for now! Sending lots of love to everyone. xoxo
