Birthday weekend fun!

This past weekend was so much fun! On Friday night, Adam and I went on a cruise down the River Thames. It was a two-hour ride and there was a band on board.

On Saturday, my friend Whitley arrived from NC! I picked her up from the airport and we ventured back to my flat. We dropped off her things and went to brunch at my favorite place...the wet fish cafe. That night, we went out with lots of friends to celebrate my 28th birthday! It was a blast!

On Sunday, we went to lunch at a famous deli called "Harry Morgan's" in the gorgeous neighborhood of St John's Wood. Afterwards, we went to the British museum and wandered around for a couple hours. It was a very cold day but we braved the weather to walk all the way down the famous Oxford Street. Finally, we ended our day with a bottle of wine, a very silly game of scrabble and some delicious Indian food!

Today is my 28th birthday and I'm looking forward to doing some touristy things with Whitley. It's so nice to have a friend from home here! (All the rest of you need to start buying your tickets!) :)
Lots of love,
K

sunshine and running

Hi everyone! Yesterday was a warm and sunny day here in London and it's amazing what a little sunshine can do for your attitude. It was warmer here than it was in Charlotte (don't mean to rub it in!) :)
I've been very busy with work and school. I am still loving my teaching job. I feel very blessed to work at two great schools. Today, I am starting an afterschool club at one of the schools I teach at. It's going to be a once a week running group for girls! I am very excited to get started and so is the school and the young girls. I will use the club as a research project for one of my classes I am taking but I am also just looking forward to getting to spend time with a small group of girls.

This past weekend, I went to visit my friend Andrea and her husband James in St. Albans and Berkhamstead. They are lucky to live in the country! Its so beautiful there. We went on a "country walk" and had breakfast at a pub. It was nice to get out of the city for a night!

I am getting very excited to have my first visitor from NC come in a couple weeks! Whitley will be here in London for 5 days and then we'll go to Cinque Terre in Italy! It's going to be an amazing trip. I haven't been able to do as much traveling as I would like because I've been so busy but hopefully that will change soon!

I am missing home everyday! Sending lots of love to my family and friends xo
