a southern lady in barcelona

We finished off our trip to Spain in Barcelona, a city I've been to before but was very excited to go back to. Last time I was there (in April '13), the weather was rainy and chilly…not ideal! But this time was absolutely gorgeous; sunny, HOT, and perfect for sitting outside.

We arrived in Barcelona in the afternoon on Wednesday and made our way down Las Ramblas to the beach. There were tons of people out and about, soaking up the sun. We found a beach bar and had a couple drinks and enjoyed our people watching. Then we walked over to Barraca for a fantastic meal by the water! After dinner, we walked down the beach and boardwalk and back up Las Ramblas to our apartment.

On Thursday morning, we woke up ready to explore all of Barcelona. Like I said, I had been before but there were a few places I couldn't wait to see again. We started off at Boqueria Market and grabbed breakfast there. It was just like I remembered….filled with amazing foods (especially fruits and juices) ad packed with people from all over the world. After we had some fruit, coffee, and snacks we decided to make the hour walk up to Parc Guell. I was a little disappointed when we arrived and I realized that they now charge to get into certain parts of the park. But mostly it is still a free park and you can see all the beautiful works of Gaudi.

We made the most of our only full day in Barcelona and ended up walking around all day! That night we went for drinks at Hotel Pulitzer, where I stayed the last time I was in Barcelona. We ended up having dinner there and going for a walk through Las Ramblas afterwards. It was the perfect way to end our trip!
