mishkins // long horn // fun times in chelsea & angel

Last week felt like one of the longest, but fastest weeks of my life. We were inspected at work and it was a high stress situation. We all did great though and by Friday, we were incredibly happy to see the end of the week!

But I have to begin at the beginning. A couple Fridays ago, me, Adam and our friend, Michael, all went to a place I've been dying to try for ages. It's called Mishkin's and it's a non-kosher Jewish restaurant in Soho. Now I am not Jewish, but I absolutely love Jewish food. Adam has gotten me addicted to salt beef sandwiches, fish balls, and chicken soup. The food was really good…I had a salt beef sandwich, Adam had a pastrami burger AND chicken soup, and Mike had a pastrami hot dog and salt beef mac & cheese. We left feeling very full and VERY happy.

After our yummy dinner, we strolled around Covent Garden for the first time in a long time. It was fun to watch the street performers and see all the tourists mucking about.

On Saturday I met up with my friend Allison at La Fromagerie in Marylebone for some wine and cheese. It was such a cool spot and reminded me of a place back in Charlotte. Afterwards, we grabbed a drink at The Marylebone pub and dinner at Royal China. It was a nice evening, but by the end I was feeling really tired.

On Sunday, Adam and I got ourselves together to go to the Holi Festival of Colours at Olympic Park. I have been looking forward to this event for a long time but unfortunately, we never even made it inside the festival. It was POURING rain and we were completely soaked. I wasn't feeling so hot that day anyways, so after 45 minutes in the rain we decided it was time to cut our losses and leave. I'll try again the next time!

Like I said before, we were inspected all week (Monday to Thursday) so I wasn't able to do anything except work, eat, bed, work, eat, bed, and repeat. But on Thursday night, I went to the soft opening of a friend's sister's new restaurant in Wanstead called LongHorn. It's an American restaurant and I have to admit, it's one of the best I've been to here in London. I had fried chicken, but there is tons of great options on the menu. I will definitely be going back again to get my fix!

On Friday night, me and my co-workers were all ready to relax and enjoy the sunshine and a few drinks after a very long week. It was Wimbledon and they play some of the matches outside at Duke of York Square. We got some wine, some snacks, and sat out in the sun watching the matches. Then we all made our way up to Angel for drinks at The York, dinner at Wahaca and more drinks at The Nag's Head. It was such a fun night!

Another crazy week passes by and I wouldn't have survived it without my amazing co-workers and friends, and my beautiful American friends and 'family' here in England. I am so lucky!
