Let me start this post by saying that Halloween in London is nothing like Halloween in the US. I've always loved Halloween...dressing up, trick or treating, going out with friends. But this year was a little bit different. On Saturday night, my dear friend Jennifer and her roommates threw an "American" Halloween party. (Jennifer is one of my best friends from UNCW and lives in London). It was a great party - lots of really nice people and lots of food and fun! I'll post a couple pictures of me and friends down below! :-)
On Monday night I felt awful. I barely slept so on Tuesday morning I decided to go to the doctor. I'm sure a lot of you know this, but healthcare is free in the UK and is run by the NHS. I was a bit weary of going to the doctor only because I wasn't sure what to expect! Well I got to my local doctors office on Tuesday morning at 8 and was told no doctor was there yet (I guess doctors are late for work sometimes too) and I'd need to come back a few hours later. So I went back and still no doctor. But luckily nurses here are able to provide medication and diagnose. I got some antibiotics and now I'm feel 100 times better than I was!
This Saturday, I'm heading to St Albans (a town north of London) to go to a Bonfire Night festival. Bonfire night is a celebration of Guy Fawkes Day (yes the guy who tried to blow up parliament hundreds of years ago). If you don't now anything about this, look it up. Supposedly it's like 4th of July in the US! I'll try to get some good pictures so I can post then next week.
Until then, lots of love :-)
